Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
We are building a voice phrasebook for travel and aim to collect as little data about you as possible. Below, we explain exactly what is processed and stored when you use the service.
Data we process
- Voice. When you speak into the microphone, the recording is converted to text. This is used only to obtain the phrase that needs to be translated.
- Message text. The phrase is sent to an LLM provider (a machine translation service) for translation, and the result is read aloud using text-to-speech (TTS).
What we store on our server
- An anonymous device identifier: a random string stored in a cookie that does not contain any of your personal data.
- The number of translations used by that identifier.
- Your email address, but only if you purchase access. We need it to send your receipt and restore your access.
- Orders and payment statuses.
- Technical statistics about each translation: the language pair, country code, how long the request took, the size of the text in characters, whether a cultural tip was returned (and whether it was withheld as unreadable), and whether the request failed. These records are deleted within 31 days (a 30-day retention window, cleared by a daily job) and are not linked to your device identifier, so they cannot be used to reconstruct who translated what. They exist so we can see provider outages and what running the service costs.
What we DO NOT store
We do not store your voice recordings or translation text in our database. Once a translation has been displayed and read aloud, we do not retain it. The technical statistics above hold only numbers and codes — neither the phrase nor its translation appears in them.
Cookies
We use a cookie containing an anonymous device identifier. The free-use limit and paid access do not work without it. We may add an analytics cookie in the future; if we do, we will update this page.
Your rights
You can ask us to delete your data (your device identifier, email address, and order history). To do so, email us at the address listed on the Contact page.
